A Narrow Lane & Other Stories is a fantastic read. The stories delve deep into the social fabric of contemporary India and explore the divisive elements we have nurtured; be it religion, race, gender, class, caste, politics, ideologies…The author holds back no punches and tackles the issues head-on. The characters are real; they are helpless and vulnerable, yet bold and defiant. The stories tug at one’s heart, slowly allowing the melancholy to seep in, and forces one to pause and reflect on his own actions or the lack of it.
This is what I think of Saadia Azim’s book—A Narrow Lane & Other Stories.
